vegas40.exe - Unable To Locate Component

I am getting this error whenever I try to start Vegas 4.0e under my older Windows XP system.

The error says " This application has failed to start because RegisterDialog.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem."

I have re-installed this older Vegas program and I performed a complete file search for this RegisterDialog.dll file and cannot find it.

Has anyone else had this issue before?

I'm assuming RegisterDialog.dll is something within Vegas to register this with Sony. I have also re-installed the Sony Creative Software Online Registration Repair Tool and this does not seem to have helped as well. This software is registered with SONY fine since I see my information in the about tab.

Strange thing last time I started Vegas, a repair came up for Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 which I thought was very strange. I ended up running a repair on Office and I have not seen that Powerpoint message again.

Not sure what I should try next.

Vegas Pro 4.0 is over 10 years old, and really ancient by technology standards.

Yes, Windows XP is even older and should support it. But version 4 doesn't likely offer support for most modern video formats.

Are you getting this message after you add video to it or as soon as you open it?

Hello,

Yes, I get this when I first start it. If I click OK Vegas still opens up fine, but I'm not sure where this dll is needed since I cannot seem to get it back even after a re-install of both Vegas and the Sony repair tool.

A google for RegisterDialog.dll XP brought up 5,000+ hits, also references to Premiere. Search it.
