Vegas5 vs Vegas6

I've got Vegas5+DVD right now and I'm trying to determine if it will be a good idea to upgrade to Vegas6+DVD.

I'm not a professional, but I have made four great projects over the past year (Anniversaries, Class reunions, etc) in Vegas5 that my family and friends just love. I've been asked to help out with a few more projects over the next few months and I began to wonder if I should be looking at Vegas6?

I’m also upgrading my current P4 system to an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Dual Core Processor on a DFI LanParty UT NF4 Ultra-D Motherboard.

Am I correct that Vegas5 does not support dual processors? And that Vegas6 does?

TIA,
Vidmar

Vegas 5 supported dual processors poorly.

Rendering would be split so that:
CPU 1: Audio, DV decoding + encoding
CPU 2: Video FX and things like that

Usually the work is disproportionately on CPU 2, and CPU 1 is not being taken advantage of much.

I'm not sure how Vegas 6 operates, but you do see some meaningful advantage from dual processors/cores I believe.

Hmm I guess I should have followed up on the "Special upgrade offer" emails back in May. But I couldn't afford the upgrade at the time. :P

I wonder if someone at Sony could still "offer" me the "special" upgrade price? wink wink. ;)

my guess is that you'd be able to find a pretty sweet upgrade deal online, however if you want to help them out more - buy direct from sony cuz they can cut out the middle man (course maybe you want to help out the middle man :)
