Vegas6-Ultimate S-24P

Hello,

just started playing around with converting some HDV footage down to DV Widescreen and 24P to be displayed on a DVD.. I am wondering how the Ultimate s workflow is doing this.. looks like if i jut go into Ultimate S "film looks"and turn off "apply film looks" it should render out as 24P.. ?? One question i would have with it, which pulldown is it performing "2-3-3-2" or "2-3" ?? (quite frankly i am a bit confused on when to use one or the other)
Also i have read on other forums, when converting to 24P footage you should "disable resample" to achieve more of a 24P look.. Any comments on this??

I am using Vegas 6, and shooting with an FX1, 1081 without any cinemaframe stuff turned on..

Thanks all,

Ultimate S sets up the project with 2;3;3;2 for you. Frankly, at this point in Vegas 6, I'd not use the 24p convert. It still is a *little* better to use Ultimate S or Celluloid to accomplish this rather than using the Vegas 6 24p, but the additional time negates a lot of the value, IMO. But the filmlooks, 16:9 tools, and other tools in the FilmLooks options are still very valuable. Sony has done a terrific job of 24p inside Vegas 6 though.
So, simply use Ultimate S to create the filmlook, widescreen, and let Vegas create the 24p on final render.

I think I'm correct on this, but I believe that 6 will convert to 24p without you having to specifically turn off resample -- just don't force resample.

Also, I believe 2332 pulldown allows you to then PTT it back to tape, but when you use the 24p DVD Architect template those extra frames are discarded for true 24p.

I've done several small movies 24p using 2332 pulldown and leaving resample at the default setting and it turned out fine, whereas with V4 I had to turn off the resample manually.
