Vegas7 Hrmpfff!

I just download and installed Vegas7 from the unofficial link that somebody kindly posted. Apart from the HD stuff (no interest here yet) it looked and behaved uncannily like V6 with the exception that there is a link to cinescore. Now I am just a humble MVO who has used Vegas since its audio-only days. I edit video most days and can see nothing here worthy of "V7"; perhaps V6e but nothing more! If I hike my price, my clients ask what they are paying extra for. Please could someone enlighten me what is supposed to be so special here - or have I missed the point?
Thanks

How long have you been using it? Just long enough to inspect the UI and issue a thumbs down? Or have you actually done some comparisons (playback times, render times, workflow adjustments, etc.)?

What were you expecting?

If you're in business you shouldn't have to hike any price - better to factor into your charges an annual budget for all the "usual" expenses such as software upgrades, and $200 over a year is practically negligible.

I haven't seen the official download yet, but it sounds as though workflow improvements alone will pay for this upgrade in saved time.

don't buy it this version. if you can everything you need in v6 then there's no reason to upgrade to 7, correct?

Given my expenses in this game the price of the upgrade comes out of petty cash. Let's get real here, I spend more in a month on fuel than what this upgrade costs.

Today I have to decide if I'll upgrade my DSR-11 to the HVR-M25P, just to keep my kit current, that'll cost me 10x the cost of the Vegas upgrade.

Said this before, I'd be happier if the V7 upgrade cost more than the upgrade cost of the VCR and delivered as much of an improvement in our capabilities as upgrading the VCR will.

Is that your expert analysis???

I think I'll just download it, try it, and see for myself, thanks.

Certainly good advice. When you find anything of note please post back cause im not finding anything earth shattering in the demo I downloaded. I be interested in the workflow improvements because everything else seems like Vegas 6...like slow renders....same ol titler....

Render test using the veg from the VAST site: Vegas 6 1:58
Vegas 7 2:01

I'd buy the upgrade even if it only rendered faster.

based on this version, no. i haven't gotten the demo yet.

but i don't run out & buy the latest of something just because it's the latest. I make sure it's worth it first. I check out info on pc parts i buy, i download demo's of software, etc. i'm not saying you won't like it, i'm just saying if there's nothing you want in v7 then don't bother buying it. you'll still get vegas 8 at the same upgrade price next year & it may have something amazing (I skipped vegas 5 because it wasn't worth it to me).

can anyone confirm if there re any additions to the current build, such as filters??
ALso can anyone verify the ac3 encoders speed (is it HT or single.. as before? )

Id be happy to pay however much it costs if i can get ac3 renders out faster... expecially when im workin on long form..

what farss has said is pretty muhc on the head here.. what we spend in this game of poker the cost of an upgrade is chump change... if it improves ONE element which you require on a day by day basis.. then its worth the upgrade IMO...
