vegas7 - Vista

I have Vegas 7 and just installed it on my new computer with Vista. Everything worked fine except that the Sony Media Manager needs the MS SQL Server MSDE installed, which isn't compatible with Vista. I get an error message after booting and starting Vegas about missing that program/file. Is there a solution to this? Thanks

Might be in your best interest to purchase the 149.00 upgrade to Vegas 8, its completely stable in Vista 32 and 64Bit versions, has lots of nice additional features, It will also get you the upcoming free Architech 5.0 HD Burning and Menu authoring upgrade coming in June for all current Vegas 8 owners...

You could more than likely download SQL2005 express, and use that as a database source for the media manager to pick into.

Are you also using the latest media manager, as opposed to the one that shipped with Vegas 7?

When I try to install that it gives me an error message - not compatible. I have the latest update of Vegas, so it should be good. I can't afford to upgrade to every version that comes out, so I usually do every other one, which will be version 9. Too many software programs to alway upgrade - the story of our computer world.

I downloaded SQL2005 express, but I still get an error message when starting Vegas. I don't know how to get Vegas 7 to use that. I'm not quite sure what the media manager that shipped with V7 does so I don't know if I really even need it. Maybe I don't even need to worry about this.

If I remember correctly, the last time I did this with Vegas7 I had to download the SQL update patch.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913089

Doenload the update, uninstall media Manager, install the update, and then reinstall MM

If that doesn't work, then the other thing you can try is uninstall the Vegas 7 media manager, download and install the vegas8 manager (It install better)

You don't really need it for normal program operations so you can get rid of it altogether if you want.
