When I do a render (to avi or mpg - haven't tried other formats) in Vegas8, the render reaches 100% and then hangs, while still runnings its "Elapsed time" counter, until I hit CTRL/ALT/DELETE and kill Vegas.
On the first attempt to kill Vegas via CTRL/ALT/DELETE, a message tells me that the program can't be stopped because a background process is running. It finally lets me "insist" on killing it...
Data from other attempts: I can stop the timer by clicking the CANCEL button after the render hangs at 100%, but that just stops the elapsed timer; Vegas still hangs.
I've confirmed that the avi file has indeed been rendered successfully... e.g., it plays in WinMediaPlayer, and can be loaded into Vegas itself after I reboot Vegas.
This problem has happened to me several times over the past couple of months, and the only way to "solve" it is by completely uninstalling and reinstalling Vegas. Then it runs OK for a while, until the problem recurs.
Am I alone in this experience?
This happens on every render.
