Vegas9.0d PAL render problems

Hi, I bet i do this for nothing, but gonna ask anyway

Sony Vegas Pro 9.0d
Pal format, 32 bit win xp pro

Progressive cam pic (Canon hg20, max settings) prosessed into mp4 hi bitrate, 720p
Speed up to 4 times (with velocity envelope, not properties) cam pic then render into mp4. Result is artifacts all over screen, but sound is ok. Tested it on 8.0c pro -ALL OK-. Vegas 9 -NO GOOD-.

Properties, rendering values etc. are exactly same. I tried to render with several different settings with 9.0d and same results every time. Can someone confirm they get similar results.

Sony left some bugs fixed with (pal version) pro8. Hope they won't reject their european customers with pro9.

Also came to my mind: will pro8 and pro9 be compatible both ways with cam pic, nothing else, just cam pic?
If i render and use some material with pro8 and then process it further with pro9, will it work?
I'm sure USA version will work, but how about European?

Cheers, Juha

Edit: typos, some easy, fast, nice registering and EULA reading. Oh' God

You might see if 9.0e fixes the problem (maybe wishful thinking, but worth a try) - it was just released (see sticky at top of forum).

Yeah, great they are fixing things. Definitely gonna test it. Anyway the bug i found is too big to handle or work around. I'm currently back using pro8.0c.

Yep, 9.0e do not fix the problem. Results are similar to preview window, but much worse. Can anyone NTSC version user test to speed up cam pic more than 4 times and then render it with hi resolution? Source material of course Full HD.
Looks like i'm gonna change my program after years of using Vegas. Expensive update with more than enough problems. I though the changes in User Interface were clever. Waste of money for me.

And after only 3 posts you're gone? Wow . . .

I don't understand . . ? Really I don't?

Oh I've been around for years. I'm just not the one who needs to be "heard or social active". Countless hours of reading forums about editing in Vegas. Over thousand hours of editing multicam Full HD picture.
I did test render several different types of Cam pictures with several different settings. The results varies: most of them were OK. After analyzing pictures i couldn't see whats wrong with the faulty ones. But i might have found a way around this. It just takes more time to edit with "safe settings" and countless back ups.

With pro8 (PAL version 32bit xp pro) virtual memory setting and file formats took months for me to find out fast and reliable preferences, settings etc. USA, NTSC settings just didn't work for me. I'm not gonna do the same work with pro9 again. I just haven't got time to do it. Sony never fixed some Pro8 (PAL version) issues. I'm a bit worried with pro9. I'm gonna give it a go with 64bit system later.

And, for instance, i got several ideas of taking bigger advatage of external control and automation (i use keyboard and bcf2000 side to side)in Vegas.
But i'm gonna stay behind and concentrate to make most of my footages for customers all over the world. Thanks for your time. Cheers: Juha

Juha,
With 9.0d I can give you a real-life example from Canada.

HDV clip input (1440x1080 29.97).

First compression using Ctrl+drag event end to the left only allows 4 times speedup. To get more you need to render out the 4x and then repeat process. I guess you know that.

Having said that, I saw no issues at all on playback to preview window or external HD monitor after 4x compression/render.

Does that help??

I was going to try to help out here but firstly the only H.264 footage I've got is 29.97. I could get some AVCHD from one of our Sony cameras but before I do we're kind of missing a few bits of info here.

At what bitrate and using which encoder, V9 gives a choice between the MC and Sony encoder. I've not found a huge difference between them so far however footage that's sped up 4x would be a good stress test. Other obvious questions are at what bitrate and what is the problem we're looking for in the footage. One persons horrid these days is another's pristine.
