VegaSaur Transcoder Will Not Output A Single mp4 Video File ?

crown2020 wrote on 8/23/2020, 9:32 AM

I sent this support request to Vegasaur several days ago. No responce just yet. Perhaps someone on the form could help or explain what, if anything, I can do. Here is what I sent to support:

"Hello.

I have GREEN Regions set up for an 18 file video clip project. The output file is rendered with the region number(s) rather than the file name. I've added file names to the project using a script you provided to me several months back. I also set the output macro to " {tn} " I'm not aware of any other method of outputting filenames in the output file other than using Regions within VegaSaur's Trans coder OTHER than adding "Tracks". When I use this feature and select YES to render each track individually, I get an audio AND Video file for each clip. If I answer NO the the Render each track individually, of course I'd expect to get one large file that takes about 12 hours to encode.

Is there a way, (when answering YES to Rendering each track individually, to still render individually BUT let the output be a single video file that also contains the audio? It's strange to me why this is not working as I am trying it. However, I'm obviously not an expert on this.

I've attached the log. Any help is appreciated."

The jobs file could not be posted here on the Vegas form directly, but, here is my dropbox link:

(4) Attachments.

Thank you in advance for any help in rendering these files as one, in batch, and with the file names used on the source file.

Try to render Regions individually instead of Tracks. For that, it is necessary to first name each Region. Then render the Regions individually using Quick Render or Vegasaur Transcoder.

Follow the steps in the video below.

@joelsonforte.br, Thank you, as always. You are quick to help. The videos are always straight forward and to the point.

With several files, this would take a long time to manually add file names to every region. I have a script that sets track names. It was provided to me by the VegaSaur team. However, It MAY only be useful for CD tracks. If you recall, you did a short video for me on that a month or so ago. Can the same script be used for this purpose you are showing me here, OR, is there another way to quickly name all those regions? Another thought I had was to somehow just use Vegas Pro nativity. I'm not sure if it would batch all the files complete with the file names.

I look forward to your reply. Thanks again for all your help.

To quickly name several Regions, simply select the desired video events on each Track and create Regions with the name of the active Take. Vegasaur Markers feature allows you to do this.

1.Delete the existing regions in your project so that new Regions are created with the name of the active take of the selected video events.

2.Select all tracks in your project and use Vegasaur Select Events feature to select only the video events on selected tracks.

3.Use Vegasaur Markers feature to create Regions with the name of  active take on the selected video events.

4.Use the Vegasaur Quick Render or Transcoder to render the selected regions.

Follow the steps of this video that everything will be fine. Good luck!

@joelsonforte.br, SUCCESS!! You have done it again. The VegaSaur guys should place you on the payroll, (if your not already).😄 As much as you have helped me, I should. 🤑

I noticed your examples were un-split video. I'm posting some pics, in hope that VegaSaur has a creative way(s) of handling my now remaining concern(s), regarding the little green "REGIONS". These are actual pics of the project you just helped me with.

Pic 1:

Pic 1 here shows marker #1 needing to be at the end of a 3 second black media generated item and a 10 second title/text item, for a total of 13 seconds that region marker #1 needs moved. It's worth noting that the black media generated item and title/text item will always be right against each other. BOTH will ALWAYS be against the end of every video, on every line, of any given project. It's my credits and copyright notice screen.

Without manually moving this region marker, is there another way? If the video were not split here, it would not be an issue. And, I guess, it's not technically split. It's more like joined, (but not). I thought about rendering the tracks to combat this issue. I then thought no because if the output is not mpeg, (and it won't be), I'd be re compressing mp4 again. The whole regions marker thing is so VegaSaur knows what Regions to render IN BATCH. That's it.

Pic 2:

Pic 2 here shows that there was an edit to the clip causing (2) regions when there should be only (1) region. In other words, region #3 should be deleted.Region # 2 should be extended to the end of the two split clips, (because of edits that were preformed). Pic 2 here shows the clip split at the front of the file.

Again, without manually deleting region 3 and manually moving region 2 to include both clips, is there a better strategy or way?

Pic 3 Other Split Examples of unwanted Regions at the End of the File/Clip.

Pic 4 Other Split Examples of unwanted Regions about the middle of the File/Clip.

It would be nice to at least be able to enter the region marker numbers you want to delete rather than the manual process. Then, one would just worry about extending the far right remaining marker to the end of the file/video/clip

I thank you in advance for your time and any thoughts/ideas that may help with my remaining dilemma.

All others reading this post are welcome to comment. I am leaning on @joelsonforte.br, because he seems to know VegaSaur pretty well. No offense.

I think I understand what you want. I believe that Vegasaur has the resource to solve your problem.

Just use Vegasaur nesting feature. This feature will nest selected events or selected Tracks and create a new nested event/project in Timeline.

The advantage of working with nested projects is that orginal events are kept in the nest and can be accessed at any time using the Open in External Editor tool or the Vegas project history.

@joelsonforte.br, This looks wonderful! It should save me a great deal of time. I will play around with this before my next major project. I can see that I need to be clear on how to properly use this feature. It looks like changing a file in the nest also changes the same file(s) in the master project file. I wonder if the same is true in reverse. If I change the master file, does it then follow that the file I changed in the master also changes in the nest. Hummmmm?

Thanks for all your help and support. You must really love what you do. Your as dedicated as I have ever seen.

Many blessings upon you and your family. Thank you. 💯

@joelsonforte.br, Hello again. I have a quick question. If I use VegaSaur Nesting feature, selecting all tracks in the project, I end up with one large file. If I select the tracks individually, and nest them out, I end up with what I want, (all splits removed and clips side by side are "baked" together).

Is there a way to tell VegaSaur that when ALL tracks or events are selected, NEST them out separate, without my having to manually nest out each clip one by one?

As always, I thank you for your time.

@joelsonforte.br, Thanks for the response. I have sent a request for this information to VegaSaur tech support.
