Velocity envelope slipping

PeterWright wrote on 6/17/2003, 10:18 PM
I have two nodes of VE, each of which reports 0% when the cursor is pointed at it, but the footage in between which is meant to be stationary moves ever-so-slowly, maybe three or four frames in 8 sec, with a sort of ghosting effect as it moves. A bit like a car with the handbrake on creeping forward.

Anyone else experienced this, and is there a cure, short of creating a still graphic?

I just tried this and got the same result. I dropped the Velocity envelope to 0% over a 6 second span and see 6 frames slowly morphing from one to the next. I thought perhaps setting the fade type on the points would help, but it doesn't seem to make any noticeable difference. However, if i use the Set to ... menu option and manually type in 0 then i do get a single still frame throughout the duration.

Yes - I did some experiments recenty, whereby I tested the "values" -1<POINT>+1 and increments from 1 in 0.1 steps. This made for very interesting "reports" when laying the mouse over the point. Kelly, "forcing" a Point's value can make a difference. My thoughts are, if the Point reports back "0.0" it might be that - yeah? Anyway have a go . ..

Right-click the node, choose "Set to..." and confirm that it is, indeed, at 0 my manually entering zero and pressing enter. I have never seen this happen when manually entering zero percent.

Thanks all - right click and entering 0 did it. Strange. because when the entry box opened, both nodes reported 0% but obviously there's some rounding off happening somehow ...

Funny thing was that after fixing this and seeing a perfect still, I sorta missed seeing the strange morphing effect!

thanks again

Yeah - " . . . I sorta missed seeing the strange morphing effect!", put it in the mental toolbox for something in the future. Apart from learning the Functions of this remarkable NLE, I am also learning the creative opportunities it provides. Now, remembering all these little golden nuggets is proving a tad difficult - I've got a Word doc going, but it is a bit clumsy.
