Ver 7 - Most recent menu link not working

robbif2 wrote on 4/3/2021, 8:09 PM

First use of DVDA, so please be patient.

Set up links to most recent menu.
In Preview, start playing Watch 1 (or Watch2), hit Stop, get last screen
Only Preview remote buttons that do anything: Pause and Play return to the Main Menu
DVD burn successful, but has same issue as in Preview

Thanks!

Dunno Fred but:

  1. I don't rely on the Preview buttons as not all DVD players behave the same!
  2. I always specify the menu I want to return to rather than leave DVDA to decide which it considers "most recent".

+1 for EricLNZ. I never rely on "most recent". I always make it a specific destination. If you hit STOP it will do just that, STOP. It won't link unless it runs to the end of the video.

Eric, I dunno either!
I also tried specifying the menu (I think) with the same result.

What I also don't understand: The link under Watch 1 on the left shows "(Page 1)", but the End Action on the right (the only choice it gave me) does not include "(Page 1)" [I did widen the display on the right to confirm it].

It will link to that as long as you don't hit STOP while it is playing. Do you mean to link it to itself? I would suggest to go through some of the fine DVDA tutorials either in this forum or on youtube. There are very good ones for beginners.

Could it be perhaps because you are displaying the Media properties and not the Buttons properties?

Thanks Eric and Doug.
Doug, I now understand you're right. Bottom line: If the media runs to the end the link works, and that's whether I set the End Action link to "most recent" or to "HVSC Photo Archive".
And yes, I did go thru the beginners tutorials and don't remember an explicit mention of this default action. Maybe it should've been obvious!
One observation (well, humble opinion, I guess)...as a programmer a long time ago, conscious of human interface, I believe the DVDA interface is not very intuitive at the outset. Once you learn the ropes, things are more obvious.

Anyway, thanks for your help and patience!

Yes DVDA isn't picked up quickly due to its depth. But when mastered it's a great programme. I particularly like its playlists.

@EricLNZ You confirm my suspicions, but that encourages me to continue to push on.
However it's very rare that I need to create a DVD anymore. This project was for two friends who don't have computers and can't view my online slideshows. At least I got it looking good and simplified!

Cheers, Fred
