AFAIK and with me there are no problems if your hardware and sources meets the needs for the program. Maybe better to tell what your problems are with which sources, hardware, driverversion(s) and (changed ?)default options.

j-v,

Thanks for the response. In reading VEGAS Pro 18 Update 5 (build 527 I see many complaints about crashes etc. I have no specific complaints. I am just wondering if I should update to build 527. If that turns out to be the final update I just may give it a try, but if this late in the game (i.e. release of Vegas 19 coming) there could be another update, I will wait for that. This may all be moot for those who update to 19, but for those who don't, it would be nice to know if Magix is still working on Vegas 18.

@bjtap1 Its a near impossibility that there will be another VP18 update.

Why not make sure you have the previous download 482 ... https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-18-update-4-build-482--127859/

then if you install the last update 527  https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-18-update-5-build-527--129047/ you can still go back to 482 .

JN,

Took your advice and downloaded the two versions. Hopefully Vegas 19 will be stable and run smoothly and I won't need either download. (Cannot hurt to have them though)! Thanks

If you don't have issues with 527 (I don't) I would use it. It has important fixes from 482.

It should'nt be necessary to buy a new version to get bugs fixed. If something is fundamentaly changed in V19 that leads to improved stability then V18 should be updated too. But I suspect it wont be much different.
bjtap1 since you have bought 18 and 19 you are ideally placed to give 527 a try then if you have issues with it tell us if 19 is any better.

It should'nt be necessary to buy a new version to get bugs fixed. If something is fundamentaly changed in V19 that leads to improved stability then V18 should be updated too.

This isn't always possible, especially in cases where the underlying architecture was completely rewritten, it would require too much time and resources to also completely rewrite the older versions in order for the update to work for them as well. Software stability improvements have always been a part of new versions... (Windows ME and the first version of Windows 8 come to mind)... sometimes those improvements can be passed back to older versions, many times they cannot.

As for the OP, no matter what update/build gets released, there is always going to be someone that has an issue with it. Sometimes that issue is a bug with their specific configuration, sometimes it's a bug with their operating system or drivers outside of VEGAS, so just because you see people reporting problems in the new update thread does not mean those problems apply universally and that update should be avoided.

We always recommend using the latest build of each version.

I expect this next version of VEGAS will be the most thoroughly tested version of VEGAS since Magix took over, by a long shot. That doesn't mean we should expect every bug will be squashed by release day, as is the case with any software, but the VEGAS team has worked very hard to ensure that quality control is vastly improved vs. previous versions.
