I've been using the most recent version of VA2.0 (b?) and
I'm quite happy with it (it doesn't hang any more than
1.0b). It does have more overhead than version 1.0b so if
you don't think the new features will be useful and/or your
system is underpowered, I'd stick with 1.0b. If you've got
the processor power and need the new tools I'd recommend
going for it.
