version 9.0b upgrade problems

Hi, was wondering if anybody can help me out here...
Due to paranoia over years of issues with computer viruses, I now wok from 2 laptops; one solely for online browsing, the other holds all my programmes such as Vegas etc, and cannot access the internet. I have had issues with the audio on Vegas 9.0 and now realise I have no choice but to download version 9.0b to correct my problems, but I'm stuck for ways to transfer the downloaded upgrade from my "internet laptop" to my "programmes laptop" (really hope this makes sense!). I've trid USB sticks with no luck. I really do not want to risk conecting to the internet with my 2nd laptop as I am a writer and most of my career is stored on it!

Hi Wam,
Let me first say that if 'most of my career is stored on it! ', dude you need to have a serious back-up seperate from your laptop! A virus will seem trivial to a hard drive crash, which happens to all drives eventually. Secondly, I don't remember how large the 9.0b update is, but is your USB stick large enough, and does it have enough room on it?? It should work just fine if you specify it as the 'save download' target. Let us know how it goes. Cin

Are you trying to run it from the usb or copying the file to the laptop?
I'd run it from the laptop, not the usb.

Also, I'm not sure if the download needs to get other files from Sony via internet during the installation or not, but could be.

I do basically the same thing with desktops, I have several mapping computers that are big boys with lots of expensive software (like $10k or more). I have only one computer that I check emails on since this is the most likely point of entry.

Get an external hard drive back up soon, but then burn some important stuff to disc as well, as those "cheap" externals go out too.
If you're doing mainly text, you should be able to back it up easily.

If all else fails, try burning the file to a cd.
