Vertical Align KeyFrames? Fancy this idea?

How often have you had several FXs and have wanted to to align them, so they are executed AT the same time?

I was doing a piece of Text today and was applying 4 different FXs and after I had what I wanted I needed to align the KFs - vertically. I know I can CTRL Scrub to group KFs and move as one, but getting them all effective AT the same time requires I kinda move them gingerly around?

Any takers?

Grazie

Sounds good to me.

Grazie -- you're doing a lot of creative thinking these days! Got some extra time on your hands? ;>)

I like this idea, actually. Don't have any idea if it could be done, but it could be very helpful. Kind of like a 'Paste Attributes' for keyframes, with the attributes being 'position in event' and, maybe, 'interpolation'.

Only after counting all my money!

CB, it's when I am working on a project that I think: "Hmmm... this is crazy, why can't I do this?!?" What I SHOULD say is that I WANT to do this . . How the real brains behind VEgas then translate this through the dark art of programming! Well!

CB, wants some more ideas? . . . .

Grazie, I have a kinda similar problem where I need to align the video in three different tracks via their respective event pan/crop keyframes.

First, I have ensure my P/C panel is docked. Then I zoom way in on my timeline and set a loop 2 frames to either side of the point of interest. Next, I set the playhead rate to something like .04. so when I play the loop it displays frame by frame slowly.

When I play the loop I can quickdly move between each event's P/C panel and adjust the keyframes realtime.

once the CTI is in place select fx hit + then delete old key continue down the line without moving the CTI

Seeing as how no one thinks this is a bad idea the next question I see is how do you see this being achieved i.e. by what mechanism could we select a vertical group of keyframes?

Reason I ask is I cannot see a way this could be achieved without other things such as events being selected as well unless we had a new pointer mode e.g. select keyframes.

My vision, without regard to whether it is even possible, would work similar to DVD-A's Paste Attributes. You'd set up the keyframe positions and interpolation in the first effect, then select all the keyframes in the the keyframe generator & hit 'Copy' from the right mouse button context menu.

Then, add an effect to the effects chain, right mouse "Paste Keyframe Attributes" and they show up in the keyframe generator for that effect in the same event timecode and with the same interpolation value.

Again, not saying it could actually be done, but that's the way it works in my little noggin...

Grazie - good idea. I'm in.

Is this like layers in an animation? Director has this "Vertical Keyframing" and Tweening, but it only handles vector graphics AFAIK.

I sometimes ponder this kind of stuff too, this is a great example of originating art in Vegas and thinking OTB.

Got my creative flow going.
