VF 2.00a will not render in AVI

Most of the time I find a simple solution, however, no mater what I do I cannot find a solution to the following:

1. VF 2.00a will not render in AVI, the redder image is just a mosaic. I can render in other formats such as WMV without any problems. I have already rendered 4 long programs in the AVI format without any problems then one day it stops for no apparent reason.

2. I upgraded to Vegas 3.00, Vegas which is rendering to AVI without any problems. However, now Vegas 3.00 will not recognise my DV cameras, Sony Digital 8 and Panasonic MiniDV interfaced through IEEE 1394 card.

My system is a P3 1gb with 2 x 30 gb Ultra DMI-100 HDs, I always defrag before an edit session.

If anyone can throw some light on this I would be most grateful.

I would check the CUSTOM button in the render window and make sure nothing is set in there.

I am having a similar problem in VF 2.0b, but only when I render in Pal DV. All other codecs are fine and so is NTSC DV.

The problem does not occure in VF 2.0a

Have same problem with VF 2.0b will not record properly in AVI. Capture will not print anything to Camera D8 although full control works wel. Film plays OK in capture window.

Are you rendering to the DV NTSC (or DV PAL) template without changing
any settings at all? If your .avi isn't exactly DV compliant, VidCap will not
print it to tape.

All the setting are OK. I am rendering in PAL, which has been working fine until recently. I’m also having problems with Vagas 3.00, which suddenly stoped capturing, or printing to tape, however, I can capture OK with VF 2.00. It seems I’m not the only one with this problem.

Thank for the suggestions I will go over all the setting again. Its not as if I am running anything exotic, just and ordinary Sony DV camera.

For those of you having trouble rendering to DV PAL, there is a bug that slipped out in VF 2.0b. VF2.0c will be posted soon, with a fix for this. Sorry for the hassle.
