VF OR ULEAD? How can I fix the 4:42sec bug?

I asked this question before and was never able to fix it..... I need some more ideas.. What program is causing the problem? The funny thing is I never used to have this problem....and then suddenly it appeared.. So is VF or ULEAD DVD MOVIE FACTORY my problem? Should I try to re-install VF? What are the consequences if I re-install it? Will I be able to install it correctly and register my MPEG2 codes?

I really want to know what the problem is becasue i am considering on buying a DVD burner and need to fix the problem before I buy one... Does ULEAD DVD movie factory 2 have this problem? whats new with the 2nd version?

I remembering having a problem with a demo of Ulead MediaStudio where I would drop AVI files on the timeline and any AVI greater that 4:42sec would be totally black. Shorter files displayed fine. I think it was explained to me as a problem with DV1 vs DV2 file formats and how my AVI was DV2 but that version of MediaStudio only accepted DV1 files. It turns out DV1 files can’t be larger than 1GB and that’s about 4:42 secs of video. So MovieFactory may be just reading the first GB of the file and stopping.

How are you capturing this video and from what source? Do you know if its DV1 or DV2 format? Are you using Ulead DVD MovieFactory 1.0 or 2.0?

Just a wild shot in the dark, but when you render an AVI file, go into the advanced options and on the Video tab, turn off the "Create an OpenDML (AVI version 2,0) compatible file". This fixes compatibility problems with other programs that can’t read AVI files that VF and Vegas produce. It may not have anything to do with it but it’s worth a try. It shouldn't take long to render about 6 secs of Video so see if DVD MF likes this AVI file better.
