VF2 Saving As MPEG-2, Burning DVD W/MyDVD 3

HI,

I have a new Dell with the Dazzle box and VW4. I have a video which was taken in two parts;

1. With a Sony PC110, part of which was originally edited in a Mac with iMovie and then rendered back into the Sony PC110 captured with my Dazzle and VW4

2. Other parts were taken with the PC110 and then captured with the Dazzle and VW4

I then slightely edited and saved with VF2 as MPEG-2 and tried to burn it to DVD with Sonic MyDVD 3 which came on the system using a Phillips DVD+RW. The video plays fine with my Windows Media Player, VF2 and even VW4.

The problem is about half way through the burned DVD's I loose the audio. The video continues and is fine for the rest of the move which is about 45 minutes long.

I have tried to burn this movie 3 times, and the odd thing is the audio never stops in the same place twice and it does not seem to matter if the portions were origingally edited with iMovie.

I checked MyDVD 2 forum and other people are having the same problem. The only solution offered was changing the MPEG-2 from VBR to CBR which I have no idea how or where to do.

Can anyone help me with this? I am sort of new at this and at the end of my rope with this project. It would have been cheaper to just have George Lucas shoot the movie to start with.

Feel free to back channel me with ideas!!!!!!!!!!

I would suggest saving your final video to an AVI using the DV NTSC template and encode your video to MPEG using TMPG which is available for a 30 day trial over the web. Look for TMPG on Google. TMPG will create Sonic MyDVD compliant MPEG files and produces a very nice quality MPEG file. It supports constant bit rate (CBR) and variable bit rate (VBR). The newest version... TMPG Plus 2.0 is very easy to use if you simply follow the online wizard.

Good luck.

It is not your MPEG file. It is bundled software which comes with Philips, My DVD.
I went through the same problem. After trying two different MPEG files I came to the conclusion that this freebie software is the culprit. I installed, Ulead's DVD Movie Factory. Problem is solved. I have burned several DVDs since.

Good Luck.

I just wanted to second Naren's post above. I had a horrible time trying to use myDVD that came bundled with my HP 100i. It wouldn't take the Main Concept MPEG2 files, so I had to do the render to AVI, then encoded with TEMPGEnc - and then it would still only work half the time. After reading several other forums I eventually tried Ulead Movie Factory. I can render straight to MPEG2 with the Main Concept plug-in and it's completely painless authoring and writing the DVD from there. Excellent quality too. One stop shopping. I understand it's pretty basic authoring, but the darn thing actually works and it's worth it's weight in gold after much time and frustration.

Please note: it is not your file-problem is bundled software. I had the same problem with My DVD which came with Philips DVD+RW. Through away your bundled sofware. Do yoursef a favour and buy full virsion of Ulead's DVD Movie Factory. It is simple to
use and works great.
Hope this helps.
