VG Pro 14 renders video (.veg) file into sound track (.mov)

Hi Folks

This is my first post. Hello to All.

I am using VG 13 (build 453) and just download VG 14 (build 252) to test converting .veg files to .mov files. Result is a sound clip. I see an equalizer bar display but no image. What did I do wrong?

Thanks in advance for your answers

to test converting .veg files to .mov files

the .veg file is only your project file, you can't convert this to .mov
What is your footage format? (i think you will convert this)
If you want open .mov files, do you have Quicktime installed?

Hi

Original footage format is .MTS and I tried rendering directly to .mov but gets the same results. Reason why I am testing VG 14 is not to install Quicktime. Otherwise, I could (in theory) install MPEG Streamclip...?

And not upgrade to VG14...?

You need Quicktime for .mov files
New is, that Quicktime is not needed for ProRes files

Ok, looks like I can't avoid installing QT on my box. I'll try that later. Many thanks.

Cheers

Ok, I had QuickTime installed and I am still getting the same results, although now VG14 can now read .mov files. This is not a good experience as Magix in their product descriptions suggested that it would be a seamless transition to be able to render files into .mov codec.

My take is that if this is the path that users of VG14 have to take, the developers have create a security issue for users with the need to install QuickTime in a separate operation.

I will not be upgrading to VG14 and instead, use a licensed converter for .mov footage. Although that adds another layer to my work-flow, I had one less security issue.

Best regards to all.

I have rendered hundreds of Mov files with Vegas
If your result is the same, it's probably due to the file.
Without any specific information (file,Vegas settings) nobody can help you.

As far as the "insane" quicktime security problem is concerned,
there were never really known active attacks against these vulnerabilities.
But whoever is afraid must just see how he gets it.

No worries, I have found my solution, many thanks.

Agreed with the "insane" security "insecurity"... Cheers :-)
