VHS Capture

Hello Forum Members

I have some vhs tapes I plan to convert to DVD but I really need some advice from the professionals in this forum first before I begin the conversion process.

I plan to use a JVC S-VHS vcr as the analog signal source to a Panasonic MiniDV Deck (AG-DV1000) to Vegas 5 on my pc. Now, when I am ready to capture from the Vegas 5 capture utility do I have to place a blank tape in the Panny or will Vegas 5 allow me to capture straight to the hdd drive?

After i have catured the material I will then edit in Vegas 5 and create dvds with DVDA 2.

Pls advise...thanks in advance.

No, you don't have to put a tape in the Mini Dv Camera, which in this case is acting as an analogue to digital converter.

What you will have to do is switch off the 'control DV deck' in the Capture part, and it will then pass straight through.

If you're not sure of where to find the setting for the switching of the DV Deck contol, search on this forum and you'll see it. I'm not in front of the PC so I can't tell you exactly.

Cheers,

Andy

Just work at it until you can see it playing on the video capture window in Vegas VidCap. If it plays in the capture window, Vegas will capture it.
