VHS to VMS question

Hi all. Have a firewire connection on my computer, and an nVidia 6800 video card. Would like to connect a VHS vcr to copy some old tapes to DVD.
I assume firewire is better than using the inputs on the video card.
Is there some kind of "box" that the vcr would input to, with a firewire output to the computer?
Thanks.
Jack

Canopus ADVC55 or the ADVC110 or even the ADVC300 (which is what I use).

I use my JVC Mini-DV camcorder to capture analog tapes now. I connect the audio/video in to the camcorder and capture via firewire. I only mention this since you have a firewire connection.
