VidCap won't recapture

Howdy,
I select a clip in the media pool and then recapture. VidCap opens and asks me to put in the correct tape, it's already in the deck so I select okay; I get the hour glass, it shows it's seeking but the deck isn't doing anything and nothing happens after 5-10 minutes so I select cancel. Nothing happens after several tries so I open Task Manager and try to close VidCap and it says it's waiting on a response from me. I shut VidCap down with Task Manager, restarted the PC, tried it again and it does the same thing. Can someone tell me what's going on?
TIA,
Randy

Try rewinding the tape to 0:00:00;00 ,seems like I ran into a similar problem a while back.
Hope this works for you.

Thanks risce1, I did that and I got an error that there was no timecode but when I got it a little closer to the in point it found it...thank you sir!
I'll try to remember your suggestion too because I do get this error from time to time.

Sometimes if your clip starts right at the beginning of the tape Vidcap won't be able to recapture it. It wants to pre-roll. Solution is to roll some bars at the beginning of every tape or, failing that, roll on the lensecap for 20 seconds.

Otherwise, the message that it's waiting for a response suggests that there's a dialog down there that isn't coming to the top. If it happens again you could try hitting escape or enter, depending how daring you are.
