VidCap2.5 - Extra audio on capture problem

HPV wrote on 10/5/2001, 2:23 PM

I just captured a few tapes for a wedding project I'm doing. First tape was fine, all clips under 8 min. On the second tape after one long clip (the longest)some clips have extra audio. The long clip at 18:15;19 (min:sec;frames) was fine. But some (not all) after that have more frames of audio. And not in any set amount. One 14;04 video clip has 14;08 audio. Then another after that has 4;28 video and 5;06 audio.
I'm running Windows ME, so I do have the four gig limit and the 18min. clip is close to the cutoff point but it didn't split the clip. It's 3.77 gigs in size.
I was using scene detection with DV source.

What could cause this ? Bug ? Tape number three captured after that is fine, all short clips.

I just noticed that the extra audio plays slow. Weird. Audio IS in sync. with the clip, just extra.
I guess I can just trim it down, but what a PITA.
I sure hope we can figure this out. HELP

Well, it looks like I found my problem. The clip after the 18 min. clip has an audio glitch where I unplugged by external mic. Seems to throw off the capture with or without scene detection activated.
So if I start my scene detection capture after that clip, all is good.
Something I noticed and changed in VidCap 2.5 was under the internal settings of options/prefs. Hold the shift key down while selecting prefs. The default sample rate was set for 44,100. I changed it to 48,000 being that is what DV audio is sampled at.
Phils colored toolbar is kinda cool also.

Hours later I'm once again a happy Vegas user.

where did you find vidcap2.5? I only see vidcap 2.0H on the download section.
Thanks.

I think if you download/install Video Factory (demo) VidCap 2.5 will be installed as part of the package. Even if you don't use VF, you can still use the VidCap 2.5
I may be wrong about this, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I am. I do have 2.5 on my system.
