VidCap50.exe --error

[r]Evolution wrote on 8/13/2004, 9:59 AM
I open VEGAS 5b
goto - File> Capure Video

-- I get this message: Video Capture has detected that it was not shut down properly. Would you like to load the previous project? YES NO

-- No matter if I choose YES or NO, I get an error:
AppName: vidcap50.exe AppVer: 5.0.0.17 ModName: vidcap50.exe
ModVer: 5.0.0.177 Offset: 0000c8e4

-- Then VidCap closes.

This same thing is happening on both of our machines. Last time I captured was last week and I had no problems. I've uninstalled/reinstalled... still the same thing.

I switch over to another station and capture with Premiere Pro then transfer the files over the network. I would love to once again be able to capture with VEGAS. (faster workflow)

Any thoughts/suggestions?

Hmm.....any idea what may have happened? Anything change on the systems that you know of?

Lamont, I have been having this exact same problem!

It seems to occur if I turn on the camera after Vegas is already loaded, or sometimes after I have been doing a long capture session. To say that it is annoying is a bit of an understatement!

I have no idea of the real reason why it does this, but I have found that if I use the System Restore option in Windows XP and restore back to a time when the capture program worked it seems to solve it. Until it starts doing it again that is!

I should also add that I do get the problem quite regularly and it's obviously a bug that needs sorting ASAP.

I've had this problem at times as well, but haven't been able to figure out exactly what I do differently that causes it.

I don't know if you have used Object Desktop WindowBlinds on your system but I had it on mine and I think it was causing that error. As soon as I unloaded WB the vegas video capture program started working again. - There could also be other driver or display issues causing it but I'm obviously not an expert.
