Video and Audio are out of sync when importing clips

I am using V17. It seems that when I import a clip that was shot on my phone the audio and video are not in sync. I have to slide the audio 10 frames to get the audio and video back into sync. However, if I play the clips outside of Vegas with either the WIN 10 deafult medai player or with VLC, they play just fine. No sync issues at all. Any there is someway of fixing this? Is it a known bug in V17? The clips are recorded on a phone with FilmicPro @ 1080p, 30fps (VFR), 48k audio

It's not a bug it's due to the VFR property of your media. VP17 gives the option to either let video and audio in sync or to avoid skipped/repeated frames. Access this option via Options/Preferences/General.

Thanks for the quick response. I see the option to "favor audio sync when playing Variable Frame Rate (VFR) media". However, this is already checked. I tried unchecking, restarting Vegas and re-importing the media, but whether it is checked or unchecked seems to make no difference. But as I said earlier, the media plays ok in VLC or the WIN 10 default player.

I have seen media players sync slightly corrupt video files perfectly while vegas plays video out of sync and video and audio can be of slightly different length. I guessed this could be due to initial i-frame being cut off.

Not to say that's your problem. Could still be vfr related

I've used FilmicPro with an iPhone and have not experienced such issues with h264. If you're using hevc, that could be a problem. You might try "Disable so4 audio reader for intermediate/hevc" under internal preferences.

You could also try the ImportAssist tool in HappyOtterScripts. There are options for re-wrapping and transcoding as well as conversion from VFR to CFR. There is also a FrameFixer tool which enables you to easily determine if there are duplicate frames in your footage.

I am not using HEVC. The clips were shot using the AVC Codec in FilmicPro with 'Filmic Quality' setting at 1080p.

I will try the HappyOtterScripts tomorrow and see if that helps with the import into Vegas
