You could user your DVD player software on your PC. Just point it to the proper directory and see it play.

You need WinDVD or PowerDVD. I don't think Windows media player does this (I may be wrong). Also, I have found that the versions of WinDVD and PowerDVD that come bundled with some computers (like my new Dell laptop, for instance) do not include this feature.

You are correct John. WM player does not come with an MPEG-2 decoder; however, in many cases once you've installed WinDVD or PowerDVD WM Player will also have access to the needed codec. Another free option (or almost free) is to take a commercial DVD that has a copy of the Interactual player on it, let it install and you're good to go.

I didn't realize the WM doesn't yet come with an MPEG-2 decoder. The other issue, and the one I was thinking about, is I don't know whether you can just point WM at the VIDEO_TS folder (even after WindDVD is installed) and have it recognize the DVD structure (i.e., play the menus just like the DVD had been inserted in a set-top player). I think this is what the original poster is looking for. You can certainly drag the VOB files to the WM title bar and have them play, but that doesn't let you check all the navigation, etc.
