video and audio "ungrouped" then moving video on track

Massimo-- wrote on 3/22/2025, 12:18 PM

I don't know what to search to find a solution for this strange behaivour that I'm experiencing and I really don't want.

Audio and video seems ungrouped when I move, ALL videos on timeline.

See video.

What can I do to restore the normality?

Thanks.

@Massimo-- Keyboard U & G group & ungroup events so you may have clicked one of those by accident,

Select the video & audio, right click Create new or press G to group them.

Or you may have clicked this button at the bottom of the timeline.

The second one worked. Is that possible to customize that toolbar to hide that button?

Thanks a lot

jetdv wrote on 3/23/2025, 1:51 PM

@Massimo-- In current versions of VEGAS, yes. Just double-click a blank area of the toolbar and then remove it from the right side of the window that opens.

I would recommend against that, though, as it's a really useful function when needed. It allows you to ignore the grouping without removing the grouping which can be useful.

There should be a bug in the software.

Look at the video. It worked for a couple of minutes but, all of sudden, it started to behave in a strange manner.

DMT3 wrote on 3/23/2025, 3:03 PM

It looks like you UNGROUPED that event, which is not the same as turning group off and on.

Gid wrote on 3/23/2025, 3:39 PM

@Massimo-- -- If you look at this frame in your video the ends of the audio & video are not aligned, it moves as you release it from the mouse & the red boxes can be seen. The audio must have moved also I believe, someone else will prob explain that better than me.

They remain grouped, if you grab the event the audio & video will move as one but that end can be moved/reduced further in. When moved to the end aligning it with the audio it locks back into place & then can't be moved without unlocking again..

But I did'nt ungroup that event. All events in the timeline works same way.

Is there a way to restore the normal behaivour of the single media?

However, when i restarted the pc, Vegas started to behave normally again.

I Will do others tests...

Thanks

Gid wrote on 3/23/2025, 3:51 PM

@Massimo-- When you clicked that button at the bottom you essentially ungrouped all events.

That one video 'event' is a group consisting of one audio event & one video event, when you clicked that button you separated them.

As far as I can see your Vegas is working as it should.

@Massimo-- This is that picture I posted you said was the solution but marked your own comment as the solution,

Read the pop-up message, It is saying Ignore event grouping, in other words it doesn't matter if events are grouped or not if this button is pressed they all become individual events, video & audio will move separately from each other.
