My Vegas 4 was working perfectly. I attempted to stop a video capture by firewire, after witch video capture no longer worked. Capture will run for 3 seconds and then automatically stops and nothing is captured.

Just a guess - maybe the min or max settings got changed when you stopped the capture. (Capture > Options > Preferences > Capture)

Had exactly the same problem. A message keeps popping up: «The device Microsoft DV Camera and VCR could not be opened. Please make sure that it is turned on and is not being used by another application or user.»

Only way I can get Vegas to work again is rebooting the PC. As long as I do not do it, no other video capture software works as well (WMM, etc.)

Any hints as how to deal with this problem will be welcome.

Did you recently install Win XP service pack 2?

Peter - Yes, I think this was the problem.
Thanks a lot

I'm sure you were going to say it anyway, but I know there are firewire issues with Win XP SP2. There are even some problems with Scenalyzer and SP2.
