Video Capture

I have a Sony Handycam DCR-DVD101 , and was there any way possible to capture the Video and sound on to a computer ? using the RCA jacks or the s-video wire into a video capture card. If so, is there a video card that you would recommend?
The way I do it now is thru the USB port and Imagemixer software. I would like to try using Screen Blast movie Studio.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

The best recommendation is to return that handycam and buy one that uses DV tapes instead. You could then do straight digital captures through firewire without any loss of quality. This is definately the preferred method.

If you must keep using it, you could use an external A/V -> DV convertor such as the Canopus ADVC110 http://www.canopus.us/US/products/advc110/pm_advc110.asp. This will convert the analog output from the camcorder into a DV signal which can then be captured through firewire. If you don't have a firewire card then the ADVC50 might be a better choice http://www.canopus.us/US/products/advc-50/pt_advc-50.asp. This mounts in an empty PCI slot and adds analog video capture capability to your computer.

As an alternative, there are several methods for ripping the content directly from the DVDs you record in that camera. They've already been discussed at great length in this forum and the Vegas forum so i'll let you go search.

Thank you for your suggestions and help. I purchased a pinnacle Studio AV / DV program and capture card. This works with both Screenblast Movie Studio, and Windows Movie Maker .
