video capture

I have a pinnicale capture device to transfer VHS to my computer. For some reason VM6 keeps saying device is being used by another program which is not the case. What capture device do you recommend to copy VHS onto the computer to edit?

Most anything but Pinnacle. ;) Actually, that Pinnacle device may work well with the software it came with. If you can capture with that then you can use Vegas to edit the videos you've captured.

If you want something good that isn't too expensive look at the Canopus ADVC line. Probably the first choice is the model 300 which includes a time-base corrector. This will help clean up a lot of the problems with VHS. The model 110 is the same quality and cheaper, but doesn't include the time-base corrector.
