Absolutely! Your dazzle device should be boiled in oil and buried in soft peat. It's not even heavy enough to be a good doorstop.

That aside, Vegas' VidCap program really only works well capturing DV sources over firewire. You could pick up something like the Canopus 110 or 300 A/V -> DV converters which do an admirable job.

Alternatively, you can keep using Pinnacle to capture with the dazzle box and then edit in Vegas, but you'll get much better results with pretty much any other device.

Yes to all chienworks said. I have the Canopus 110 and it works very good with Vegas, it will also work with Pinnacle.

They have stopped making the 300 acording to B&H, I also have one of those and use it when I get a tape that is worn it does a good job restoring the picture. Also the audio sync is very good I have never lost sync yet even when capturing a long tape.

You can pick up a used Canon ZR camcorder for peanuts at eBay or Goodwill. If the tape is playable it will capture just fine using the camcorder inputs and A->D passthrough.
