Video Capture 2.5 drops lots more frames than 2.0 did

I'm a registered 1.0 user using capture 2.0. In evaluating an upgrade to VF 2.0 I noticed that video capture 2.5 usually drops several hundred frames over the course of several minutes whereas VC 2.0 dropped 0-5 usually.

Why the decrease in performance?

How fast is your computer? What else do you have running in the
background? Ideally, before you start VideoFactory and Video Capture,
the only things you should have running are Explorer and Systray. Shut
down any other software and disable any background utilities.

Even with my old AMD K6/2 350MHz computer i would usually have
dropped frame rates of 1 an hour or less! Now with my 866MHz P3 i
can't recall dropping even a single frame in months.
