Video Capture Can't Find Camera under XP

Can anyone help!
I have both a Sony DV camera and a Powerr AD firewire converter. Both worked fine then for no appent reason VV3 Video capture stopped accepting either device. It is in lists, however videcap will not connect to them. Both Premier and that stupid MS video editor/capture recognise the device OK.

I have removed the device and firewire driver and reloaded them to solve the problem however nothing works.

What has gone wrong?
Where can I look?

Very frustrated!

You might want to uninstall Vegas 3 and then reinstall it.

What anything else changed? Did you install/uninstall any other software? You're still using the MS DV driver, right?

I did not install/uninstall anything, It just stopped out of the blue!

Using MS DV Driver? Yes, it comes up on the list along with an legacey Matrox driver, however it will not connect.

I will try to uninstall / reinstall VV3 tonight (Australian time). What is also interesting is that it will not work with Video Factory 1 & 2 captures either.

I am not convinced that is simply a VV3 problem, I am thinging along the lines of an XP problem. Although it does work with MS video editor and Premier 6, Premier 6 does not seem to work as reliable as it did. Ie it now takes longer to find the device than it used to!

Thanks

Rebooting wouldn't hurt, either.

After trying everything (almost) I finally discovered a great feature in XP – the ability to roll back system configurations to a previous date (not just ‘last known good’). I went back to a date that I knew the system was working fine and hey presto it back working again.

I still do not know what caused it! If I find out I will post the news.

Thanks

I had something similar happen with Win2KPro. Capture was working fine, then just wouldn't connect to my camera. I loaded an avi file and clicked on Print to Tape, and everything started working again??????
