video capture can't see my camera

OK, here are the details, I am running Vegas Video v2.0g, build 415 and vid capture 2.0e build 77. The camera is a canon zr-10. I am using an ADS video capture card (1394DV) and the TI OHCI compliant driver version 5.0.2183.1 The computer is an Athlon 1.33 ghz with 512mb ram and an ASUS 7700 series video card.

Video Capture does not recognize the camera (No Capture Device, No Device Control). Going to Options/reconnect does nothing.

Anybody have any ideas????

Thanks, Doug

ZR10's can be a little finicky, but you can get them to work most of the time.

If you have a VIA chipset, get the latest drivers and install those (caused 1394 errors).

Next, try cycling the power on/off/on on the camera while capture tool is open- sometimes you just lose the connection and this often brings it back.

If it still doesn't work you should contact SF tech support.

what drivers are preferred? I have had limited success with the TI OHCI drivers, but it keeps dropping connection and/or crashing VidCap and/or turning off preview. It seems to keep coming back to the Microsoft DVCcam driver, although I have installed the DVCAM driver from the ADS CD (using a PYRO card), the MS driver keeps re-appearing

The Microsoft driver is installed by Windows and our tools are optimized for that. Anything else (like DVCAM)will almost certainly result in some kind of trouble.
