Video Capture Card

I have a dell computer that came with the Roxio Movie Studio software. According to Sony...I uninstalled the hardware and software (as there have been known issues) and then I installed the new card I got. I got the ATI TV Wonder Pro. Is this card OHCI Compatible...and more importantly will this work. I tried it, and so far I am getting no results with my camera as well as VCR. I check the knowledgebase...and it says to post here. Please let me know if this is not a card that will work...and if I should be using a different card. Any help would be most appreciated!!!

Thanks
Paul

OHCI refers to firewire/1394 connections. Unless ATI has made some model changes recently, i don't believe that card contains a firewire port. If you have a digital camcorder you should be using a firewire cable. You can get a firewire card and cable for probably less than $40 total.

If you are trying to capture analog then that card should work. I've used both the All-In-Wonder and the Rage PRO Fury for capturing analog with minimal problems. Are you able to capture with the ATI software?

Thanks for replying. No I was not. I got the blue screen with no data being transferrred. I have an analog video camera as well as a VCR that I will be doing most of my DVD productions from. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

I don't want this to sound like a stupid question, but are you sure you have video out on your camcorder/vcr going to video in on your ATI card?

Are you getting audio? If not, then check and make sure your audio and video cables are not crossed.

Finally, try another set of cables. It is possible that you have a bad video cable which is not letting the signal pass through properly.

I have a ATI TV Wonder Pro and as well and for the life of me, I am unable to change the input to something other than S-Video in VMS 4.0a. So it is possible that atimelessmemory is using the composite input and that is why he isn't seeing anything.

Oddly, Screenblast Movie Studio 3.0b worked fine.

This "bug" doesn't bother me much since Vidcap sucks at analog caputre (always has). My new favorite capture program is VirtualDub. Version 1.6+ has finally added DirectShow capture for newer capture devices like the TV Wonder Pro.

I recommend that atimelessmemory ditch Vidcap and use VirtualDub for captures (and pre-processing).

Go to http://www.virtualdub.org to download VirtualDub.
