i just recently bought sony movie studio 4.0, with dvd architect, and im using a sony dvd burner. my camera is a canon mini dv camera, and whenever i try to capture video into movie stupid i get an error about vidcap50.exe. i have even uninstalled the programs completely and reinstalled.
i cant capture video, i had figured out a way on a pervious project to capture clips 10-30 seconds long, but it is tedius and now i have about 3 hours to capture. i tried to manually capture clips about 20 seconds long, stop it and restart but its not working anymore.

i need to work on my film for a school project so i need to figure this out. if anyone knows please help me.

edit:
i got the error signature it is as follows:
app name: vidcap50.exe
app ver: 5.0.0.201
mod name: aviplug.dll
mod ver: 1.2.0.2024
offset:00032152

hopefully that helps more, if not oh well.

I hesitate to offer advice, since I am pretty new with Movie Studio. But I can tell you that I was having all kinds of strange problems with the product until I downloaded the 4.0a update from the Sony website:

FWIW, I have captured lots of stuff from Canon miniDV cameras using the 4.0a version.

If still can't download, might give Scenalyzer Live a try:

Good luck.

I was having a ton of video capture problems (especially tons of dropped frames). When I downloaded WinDV, all of them went away. It was a God-send.

i tried using windv but i dont think i was using it right. something kept getting messed up. i found a way to capture using nero (the software that came with my burner) and that was sort of working. i think i figured out the problem though, i didnt have much hard drive space and it was being weird. i got an external hard drive and tried capturing again with movie studio and it worked. so i guess the problem was a really old hard drive that hadnt been defraged lately with not enough room.
