Video Capture not detecting Camera

Bit Of Byte wrote on 7/15/2005, 6:14 AM
Hello Team!

My Vegas does not detect my DV Camera.

I have installed (and confirmed presence of) a new FW card - with drivers.

When I was using onboard FW, the camera was detected fine but crappy transfer and do not wish to use onboard FW anymore....

Can somebody please advise how I can get my Camera to become detected...?

PS.. I have read the online help without success...

Does windows see your new FW card?

If windows sees your card and/or camera, you might want to download a trial copy of Scenalyzer and see if it will capture. My personal experiences with vidcap were so poor that I long ago gave up on capturing with it from Vegas and use Scenalyzer exclusivley for capture and PTT.

If windows doesn't see your card, the first step is going to be to trooubleshoot that. The first time you rebooted after installing the card, windows should have told you that it detected new hardware. Did it do that?

If it didn't do that, then I'd start by reseating your card in it's PCI slot.

Hi Scott.

I see the card in Device Manager but I did not see the "New Hardware" installed...

HI Scott.

You were correct. THe card had to be pushed in a little furhter...

I have tried Scen. Live and seems to be capturing.

But, I would still liek to use Vegas Capture appl.

It detects the camera now in Vegas but doe not allow me to capture...any thoughts..anybody?

When you say 'does not allow me to capture' what specifically happens? You do have the camera switched to VCR mode?
Also might be good to know what model of camera.

Yes, Camera in VCR mode

Camera type - MVX35i

Under the Capture Appl, all tab options are greyed out - not allowing me to select anything...

I.e. Video, Audio, Options, etc. (on top)

What kind of Firewire card is it? If it's really OHCI, then no drivers are required of any kind. That's the first clue.
Second, go to your Network connections in Control Panel and be sure that the 1394 Network connection is disabled.

Hi SPot,

Without sounding too dumb, why is this a concern?

I see three 1394 connections - all enabled. WHy?

Which one is associated with the FW card.

YEs, the FW card is OHCI compliant.

Bit ,
make sure you have "device control" enabled in vad cap too.
