Video Capture Problem

Hi,

I've captured dozens of hours of video using a Sony VX-1000 and firewire. There is this one tape, however, that shows up black and with no audio. The tape plays back fine in the VX-1000 viewfinder. I can control the camera with the buttons in Capture Video mode, so I know the firewire is working correctly. Plus, I just captured a different tape. Just can't do this tape. It was recorded elsewhere and given to me. Does anyone have a clue what to do next?

Thanks,

Susan

Hi! - I don't know what the "quality" hit will be, guess others will chime in on this, but, can you output as an Analogue signal and, using a AV<>DV convertor bring this into Vegas? You will need to set up VidCap with "Enable DV device control" deselected - but if you can "view" the footage - can you do this on a TV? - then bringing into Vegas as a converted AV<>DV signal could save the day. Can you try another cammie? Another deck? - Nah, can't be that, 'cos you can view it .. wierd! Anyway is this any good?

.. another thought is could you "copy" tape to your cammie from another cammie? See if that works . . hmmmm .. . G

I've heard some of Video Capture Problems from Chinese forum.

One way to resolve it is un-install SONY Vegas 5d and re-install SONY Vegas 5b
