video capture problems

I used to be able to capture video no prb from my video cam
however - I am now getting an error mess -" the device cirrus logic USB DVR2 could not be opened-please make sure it is turned on or not being used by another application"
I have searched my hard drive and device manager and cant even find a Cirus Logic device anywhere - the IEEE 1390BUS device loaded says that it is working properly - my computer knowledge has now run out and I cannot work out why I cannot capture the video when i could in the past with the same system setup
can anyone help???

Just a guess, but maybe this time you tried connecting with a USB cable instead of a FireWire cable.

Im using IEEE 1390 BUS device also.

Try checking the firewire connections. I'v found this has solved similar problems for me.
