Video capture program problems

Hi, trying to capture some old home VHS tapes into Vegas 8 via the supplied video capture program and an Osprey 210 video capture card. The transfer seems to work OK with no dropped frames or audio problems, but when I tell the program to stop capturing, the program throws an exception (bombs out), and no file is saved. Any tips or ideas on how to troubleshoot?

Use the capture program that came with the Osprey. Sony's VidCap is really only intended to capture firewire DV sources.

via the supplied video capture program and an Osprey 210 video capture card I think he already tried that Kelly.

I was refering to the video capture program provided with Vegas, not SwiftCap. Since the original posting, I found Osprey's SwiftCap.exe program on the web (not on Viewcast website). It apparently is not in their current driver download, found it under a previous version, seems to be the right tool for the job. At work right now, will try Swiftcap later today and report back. Be interested in learning why Viewcast does not apparently make it available in their downloads, when it is listed in their manuals.

AND NOW FOR THE REST OF THE STORY: Viewcast pulled Swiftcap.exe, describing it as a "kludge" (how refreshing for a supplier to be honest about a product). Recommended Virtualdub, which seems to work quite well under both XP32 and XP64. And yes, the video capture program with Vegas is strictly for DV or HD input only. Don't forget to read the manual!
