Video Capture Sound - Vegas Studio Project No Snd

Vegas Studio 6.0

I have used VS once before for import of mpg files and edit/ burning to dvd (worked great).

This is first time though to actually use the Video Capture tool; I can video capture(done both with video capture button and tape button) and get the file in successfully. In Video Capture tool the file plays back well with both vid and sound.

However, when I save this off or close the Video Capture tool and have the file in the current studio project ONLY the video plays back in the preview window. No sound and attempting to load the file in the edit pane shows audio strip without any waveforms.

Anyone know how to specifically fix this so the audio heard in the video capture tool gets into the studio project as well? thanks

I suspect you have audio capturing turned off. While you are capturing you aren't hearing the result of the capture, you're only hearing what the camera/deck is playing. This is why you would hear audio then even when it isn't being captured. In VidCap go to Options / Preferences / Capture and make sure there's a checkmark for "Capture Audio".

still no sound - thanks for responding, the capture audio checkbox is checked(true).

Sound does play back with the video in the CapVid viewer. But when adding it to Media Pool and then when trying to preview it in the studio preview pane --- there is no sound , only the video.

To correct what chienworks said, sound is heard from the camera during capture; then after capture when I double click the file in vidcap window, the file will playback in preview pain of VidCap(print to file tab).....with sound. However, no sound when adding to media pool and the file appears in the current project.

I had the same problem with 7.0. I thought I had IEEE 1394 connection but did not. Vegas will not work through USB, must be firewire from DV camera. Once I installed a PCI IEEE 1394 card in computer, issue was resolved. Hope that helps.
