Video Capture with sony hardware?

I purchased Video Factory as software to use with a new Sony Digital Video handy cam outfit. I have a lap top with Windows 98 and also have a ilink interface-usink a DVBK-CW200 capture card. My video factory (video capture) does not detect the camera or capture device. Any help? I have tried all of the steps listed in the help menu.

maybe try the SFsony.exe utility from Sonic Foundry downloads? That usually fixes the sony/1394 prob-

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Where do I find the SFsony.exe utilities--is it found in the Sonic Foundry VideoFactory package I purchased or is it something I must purchase seperately?

First off the Video Factory manual page 5 says do NOT install any drivers with your third party video capture software if it is DV capable. Instead let Windows install its driver and Video Factory will install what it needs.

I don't have a Sony camera, but here the URL the other guy mentioned. Have no idea if it will help or not.

I have a Sony Handycam (330 model) and have used it quite successfully with VF 2.

You shouldn't need ANY other driver. Windows will eventually pick it up. Now, I hate to ask this but you've set the Camera to the VCR mode right? Windows will not see it unless the camera is in VCR mode.

When I first plugged mine in, I had to cycle through the camera settings and eventually the camera was identified. Once it was identified, I've never had a problem. While it's plugged in, try going from the "off" setting and switch between either VCR or Camera modes a couple of times. Then, set the camera to Off and then set it to "VCR" mode and it *should* probably see it.

Hope that helps.
