Video captured - not sharp

Whenever I capture from a DV video to my PC I don't seem to get very sharp video images. This was the case even after I hired a professional team to video a concert performance which was video'ed on a 3 CCD-type prosumer camcorder. I then took the DV tape and digitized it and now, when I've completed my edits, the videos are pretty "dull" and not sharp. Why is this so?
I've been using a IEEE1394 PCI card which came with an original Ulead Video Studio package to do my digitizing.

Any advice please?
Thanks!

DV gets transferred bit for bit when capturing from a DV camera to a computer over 1394, so that isn't the problem. Have you rendered to DV and printed back to the camera, then watched the output from that on a TV? The rendered program should be as clear and sharp as the original footage.
