Video Capturing Problems

Hello,

I'm really new to using Vegas 5. I'm having problems using the Video Capture option. Everytime I try to capture, a pink screen appears on my preview window and nothing will capture. What should I do?

I'm trying to capture video from my minidv video camera (Samsung SCD103) to my PC (HP Pavilion ze4400). While I was capturing, my harddrive mentioned that I was running out of space so I switched the batch capturing files to my external hard drive, but I'm still having freeze problems with my preview screen. The preview screen will freeze and the timecode will continue to play, but nothing is captured after the freeze frame on the preview screen. I'm not sure what else to do. I tried all of the suggestions on the troubleshooting page, but none of them are seeming to work. What if I capture the files from a different program from another computer ( let's say Final Cut Pro MAC OS) and save it to my external hard drive, can Vegas still read my captured material once I open the saved files from my external hard drive?

One important question. Is your external hard drive Firewire or USB? If it's USB, that may not be quick enough.

It is a firewire 1394 and a USB, but I'm using the firewire cables. I'm also using an adapter 6 pin to connect to my firewire oulet on my computer. Could that be the problem?
