The video card as far as I know has no effect on performance. Some programs like Boris Red can use the video card to speed up real-time previews, but Vegas cannot.

So... just get any dual head video card and you'll be fine. (Dual head for running two monitors)
Fanless is nice (no noise).

newegg.com has a dual head GF4 MX440 for around $45 that'll do both DVI+VGA and VGA+VGA (via DVI-VGA adapter). That should work.

I have the mx400 64mb, works fine. I have a new 5700 ultra in the box waiting to install, but my current 300 watt power supply is not enough with 2 HD, 2 DVD burner, etc to power the card........ The thing is 3 x the size of the MX 400 and requires it's own power supply!!!!!

I've got an ol' PC lying around with a 2MB S3 Virge PCI card in it. This card is completely adequate for Vegas. The only thing that might improve it would be to add a second card for dual head display. Other than that, you don't need anything more.

Damn, I thought my 8mb Ati Rage was pathetic!! Of coarse thats in a spare machine.

That 2MB s3 is probably okay for general use, but it generally a good idea not to use PCI graphics cards as they can interfere with audio playback - they are both sharing the PCI bus, only the vid card hogs it a bit.

I still can not figure out how can you use 2 video cards at some time. I have AGP and PCI card, But can use only one at a time

ultramon.com has some information on how to setup dual monitors with an AGP and PCI video card. http://www.realtimesoft.com/multimon/
