It won't make any difference at all. Vegas is entirely CPU based.

Thanks much for your reply. It's good to know that I won't have to buy anything!

Hi,
I'm talking myself into a new computer in the near future and have a similar question about video cards...
I'm afraid I don't understand what your response means with Vegas being "entirely CPU based".....could you explain for me?
Thanks so much,
Teaktart

Vegas does not take advantage of the video card for any kind of acceleration like effects rendering, etc.

Vegas uses the computer's Central Processing Unit (CPU, or processor) exclusively. The only thing the video card is used for is to show stuff on the monitor. In that respect, a 9 year old $19 video card with 8MB RAM will probably run with Vegas just as smoothly and quickly as a modern $359 video card with 256MB RAM.

That being said, one feature of newer "dual-head" video cards that may be a huge benefit is the ability to use two monitors simultaneously. It's very handy to have Vegas' timeline on one screen and all the effects, explorer, media, preview, etc. windows on a separate screen. You get a lot more room to work with and a lot less clutter. Of course, you could always put two 9 year old $19 video cards in your computer to achieve this.
