there are, but this is what most people will recommend for very good reasons:

for an analog/digital capture setup:
1 - OHCI compliant IEEE 1394 adapter (firewire card like the Pyro)
2 - a 'Media Converter' which is a box that converts analog to DV or DV to analog.

this forum has recommendations for specific brands of both. this setup will give you the best quality for the least trouble, whereas dv/analog combo capture cards are notorious for causing problems, and the analog capture is usually poor compared to the above solution.

I got the firewire card before I even buy vegas, but I realize that I desperately need a breakout box or media converter box to capture and record footage from my vcr.

Can you specify a brand and were to buy this type of hardware???, help me please !!!!

This is discussed often on this forum, and the Canopus converter box is highly recommended.

I also recommend the use of a cam with analog input, such as Sony's D8 models.
