video cd

I can't seem to burn a video cd. I go through all the steps ( go to tool, burn cd, video cd ). When done, the screen pops up stating that the cd was recorded with no errors, but it my computor nor my vcr/vcd/dvd player will play it. On the computor, all that opens on the burned vcd is the explorer window that shows 5 folders have been burned to the cd ( cdi, ext, mpegav, segment, vcd ). Thanks, Greg.

is there a file in the MEGAV folder?? if so just try right click on it and open it with windows media player, at least that way you'lle be able to make sure its burned the file.

You do know aswell that you will need some type of DVD playing software to open and play the VCD as its inserted unless you do the above to play the file everytime.
Also, even though a lot of set top dvd players say they will play a VCD in the paperwork etc, this doesnt neccaseraly mean a cdr vcd

Simon

I noticed that my DVD player (apex) won't play VCD/SVCD's that are burned to "low quality" cd's. Did you try playing your VCD in a stand alone DVD player? I'd also reccomend SVCD's over VCD's. The resolution is higher (svcd=480x480, vcd = 320x256 I think) and the bit-rate on SVCD's can go up to 2600kps (or around there). The difference is noticable. If you want to play MPEG-2 (svcd) on your computer, I think Windows Media Player 9 has a mpeg-2 codec, or try Elecard Mpeg-2 player (www.elecard.com). That one works good.

As far as I know, (S)VCD's won't autorun. You can, however, download and put on your CD a VCD player that people can use to view your VCD on a PC. Try looking for one on downloads.com. I never used them because I played my VCD's on my set-top DVD player.

TheHappyFriar:
Can you make CD-ROMs utilizing MPEG2 videos rendered in Vegas that auto play with the Elecard player? If so, which components do you downl;oad from what site?
Thanks,
Steve

I haven't tried to make autorun CD's, but I would suspose that if you had SVCD software on your CD, you could tell it to autorun with an autorun.inf file. I'm not sure how to do that though. Try opening up an autorun.inf of the vegas cd, or another cd see how they did that.
