video clip on timeline turned red, won't play

I inserted a video clip on the timeline in v.8. It played a few times, but now the video thumbnail turned red on the timeline and it won't play in the preview window. What's up?

Is Vegas Movie Studio not able to use .mov files?

When I try to add any quicktime videos to my project now, they're red on the timeline and won't play in the preview window.

This worked a little while ago. Do I have some settings incorrect?

I'm working with HD and the properties are set at 24p

Sounds like you somehow hosed the QuickTime plugin. Try reinstalling QuickTime, then start Vegas again and see what happens.

Forgot to mention...I'm using v8.0d(build 139)

I have Quicktime Alternative 1.81 on my computer. Do I need to remove that and re-install the same? Or get the 'real' Quicktime? Install both?

You need the real Quicktime. The "alternative" does not offer the same system hooks for apps to use the codecs.

Do I need to remove the "alternative" also?

Yeah, I would do so.
