What I ment to say is this I love the Windos Media Video V9. Template and Customizing it but one thing I dont under stand.
I use Movie Studio 8.0 and I am making a Custom Video Template to export my Videos.

First off I go to Rander As and I pick Windows Media Video V9
And then I go to Customize Tab so I can make my own from this.

All is going good but I need help understanding one thing?

When I am at the screen that says Target Bit Rate there is a lot of diferant Bit Rates that I can have my Video set to.

Like if I know the people watching my videos will have an ISDN Speed then I just put a Check Marck in the Box next to ISDN

OK I get this but there is a list of them I can pick from ISDN Speed and Internet LAN Speed.

So I can pick the speed for a lot of diferant People they may watch my video to make sure there MODEMs can take it in.

I get this.

What I dont understand is if I pick a speed say for Internet LAN then I piuck a Speed for ISDN Speed how can it Randr at all these Diferant Speeds in one Video????

First, we need to know the resolution of the source videos. Without it, we can't tell you how to export precisely.

Generally at any bitrate below what's typically used for DVDs (maybe 6Mbps or so) WMV is much better than MPEG1. Once you get above that level then MPEG1 probably looks better than WMV. WMV doesn't seem to be optimized for higher bitrates and still softens the image a bit too much. Since most web usage is far below 6Mbps then the choice should clearly be for WMV.

I'll tell you how the encoder puts all the different bit rates in the same file: i don't know. Why do you need to know? It does it; isn't that good enough? Select the options and let it do it's work. Knowing how it works isn't necessary in order to successfully do it.

Well what I meen is I can see if you pick one Target Bit Rate say 56 k MODEM

Then anyone with a 56 k MODEM can watch your video ok.

But if you pick Target Bit Rate 56 k MODEM and DSL MODEM then how is the video going to know what MODEM to send the video out to at the Target Speed?????

If you are only exporting for youtube, which I believe you personally are, then you should not be using the 56k modem bitrate. You should use a good bitrate, e.g. for SD footage at around 2.5 mbps. Then, youtube will take care of re-encoding your video at various bitrates that are good for modem 56k people or for DSL. But the copy you upload on youtube, should always have good quality, with enough bitrate.

Hi,

But if you pick Target Bit Rate 56 k MODEM and DSL MODEM then how is the video going to know what MODEM to send the video out to at the Target Speed?????

well, you cannot have two different bitrates in one video, i.e., you cannot set the target bitrate to 56 k modem and DSL modem. You've got to decide for one of the settings.

If you want to meet different download speeds you've got to render files for each speed separately so that each file comes with its own bitrate, e.g. one with a target bitrate for 56 k modems and one with a target bitrate vor DSL. That's simply it and nothing you could do about.
