video correction

i burnt a dvd from vhs and the picture seems to breakup and distort. i sharpen medium, and darkened darker. it looks like a a bad cable connection
how can i fix the problem.

i put only 5 minutes of video on this dvd and it said it had to compress the video and audio.

First, it sounds like you've got blocking? If so, that's more related to compression than processing. What did you compress at? (bit rate)
Also, why did you darken?

there was a haze on the film. if you could please call me @ 954-588-2963. i work better threw phone. plus i need to have this project done by friday. both video and audio were compressed. do not understand compression tool. please call i would gladly appreciate it.

352x240? No wonder your DVD looks bad. You need something like a Canopus ADVC-100 or simply use the analog > DV passthrough on a DV camcorder.

What kind of capture hardware are you currently using? There is no inherent reason why you should be dropping a "lot of frames" through Vegas. Particularly if you are just capturing 352x240.
